Ukrainian Products Now Available in Canada’s Largest Supermarket Chain
In cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, we successfully introduced well-known Ukrainian brands to the shelves of Canada’s largest retailer – Loblaws.
Loblaws is the leading player in the Canadian retail market, combining supermarkets, pharmacies, and clothing stores. As of early 2024, the company operates nearly 2,500 stores of various formats, and its annual turnover exceeded $42 billion last year.
Thanks to the cooperation of UPD and the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, the first shipments of Ukrainian goods were delivered to Loblaws in late 2023. Today, more than 50 Ukrainian products are already available in the Loblaws network, including chocolate, tea, coffee, preserves, sweets, biscuits, and juices.
“We have selected the best brands that are ready to work with us to expand into international markets and introduced them to Loblaws. This collaboration became possible thanks to the high quality of Ukrainian products, our persistence, and the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada,” said Andrii Zhuk, co-founder and Chairman of the Board of UPD.
With the support of UPD and Ukrainian diplomats, a dedicated shelf for Ukrainian products was also opened at the Loblaws supermarket in Toronto. Among the featured brands are “Nash Sіk,” “Yogoda,” “Solodkyi Svit,” “Veres,” “Nizhyn,” “Kava zi Lvova,” “Spell,” “Galka,” and “Kyivkhlib.”
“Expanding the presence of Ukrainian products in the Canadian market not only supports Ukraine’s economy but also promotes our culture and traditions abroad,” said Yuliya Kovaliv, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada.
Currently, Ukrainian products are available in over 100 Loblaws stores. In the future, the company plans to further expand the geographical presence and increase the variety of Ukrainian products.
